This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/5/2013
An original member of the Philadelphia Flyers, defenceman Ed Van Impe was a natural for induction into the team's Hall of Fame in 1993. After serving as team captain from 1968-73, Fast Eddie selflessly yielded the C to Bobby Clarke and continued to dish out thundering body checks as a key component of the Broad Street Bullies' back-to-back Stanley Cup champion teams in 1974 and 1975. Van Impe was presented with this substantial Flyers Hall of Fame bronze bust statue upon his induction. It stands 19" tall with a colorfully painted metal action figure of Van Impe on the front and a heavy bronze bust of Ed's head atop the wood base. Lot includes a program and poster and comes with Ed Van Impe's signed LOA. Plaque on the front of the base reads: “Phila. Flyers Hall of Fame, Ed Van Impe, Inducted April 8, 1993”. Bust is signed by the artist on the back and dated “1993” and stands just over 8” tall. It sits atop the 11” tall wood base which measures 10” x 7 1/2". There is some paint missing from the figurine’s stick as well as the tip of Van Impe’s nose. Included is the April 8, 1993 Flyer program magazine with a cover photo and article on Van Impe’s induction along with Flyers executive Joe Scott. Also included is a 24” x 18” poster of the two 1993 Flyers Hall of Fame inductees which has numerous fold creases.
