Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction February 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 2/23/2016
Due in large part to the goaltending exploits of Ed Belfour who enjoyed an amazing career-best GAA of 1.88, the Dallas Stars finished the 1997-98 season with an impressive record of 49-22-11, with their league-leading status resulting in a coveted NHL Presidents’ Trophy. This Presidents’ Trophy was awarded to Ed Belfour. Standing a full 16” in height, a dark-finished triangular base houses 3 silver-plated columns beneath three crossed hockey sticks. A small metal plate with the NHL logo etched-in has been affixed to the upper base beneath the top bowl. A plaque on the lower wooden base states the trophy’s details and they include in full “The Presidents’ Trophy Ed Belfour Dallas Stars 1998”. From the personal collection of Ed Belfour, a signed LOA from Ed will accompany this important NHL Presidents’ Trophy.
While a large amount of tarnish has set in, it could be cleaned by the winning bidder if so desired, but the trophy presents beautifully as is with a nice vintage patina. In excellent condition, the wooden base shows a tiny bit of wear to a few edges, but this is mentioned only for the strictest accuracy.
