Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2019
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/18/2019
For those enamored by the boys in Beantown, we have a neat collection of Boston Bruins publications, with nine programs ranging from the 1930s to 1960s, five Bruins yearbooks from the 1940s to 1970s, a copy of the May 4th 1970 Sports Illustrated with Bobby Orr cover and a sealed limited-edition 1969-70 “Historic Hockey Yearbook”, produced by the Hall of Fame. The yearbooks include examples for 1947-48, 1951-52, 1963-64 and 1964-65, with each in nice collectible condition, exhibiting just light handling wear. The programs include a pair from 1935-36, with one featuring a Toronto match-up won by the Leafs 2-1, the other for a Jack Sharkey vs Tony Shuco boxing match, with both having intact but detached center sections (each is heavily toned, with moderate to heavier edge wear) and just light handling wear to the programs themselves. Next, we have a 1938-39 program with no center line-up, and moderate to heavier wear to the program including a worn spine with a large tear, a 1950-51 program for a match against New York, in beautiful condition with intact line-up, a 1958-59 program for a match against Toronto, won by the Bruins 4-3, in beautiful condition with loose but intact line-up, a 1961-62 program for a match against New York, also in beautiful condition with loose but intact line-up and a center crease through the publication, a 1964-65 program for a match against Toronto on Feb 14th, with loose but intact line-up with heavier wear including some staining/soiling, and a center crease through the publication, a gorgeous program for a Nov 10th match-up in 1966-67, with Boston beating the Leafs, with this only Bobby Orr’s 10th NHL game, and a high-grade example from Feb 1st during the 1967-68 season, with Chicago visiting. The 1970-71 yearbook is in lower grade with some creases and minor soiling, with the Sports Illustrated in pleasing condition, with light handling wear and a somewhat musty smell. The mailing label has also been removed, with paper loss.
