Gainey was a key member of the Montreal dynasty between 1976 and 1979, when the Canadiens won four consecutive Stanley Cups, and who later captained the Habs for eight years, including in 1985-86 when the Canadiens recaptured the Stanley Cup. He wasn’t known as a prolific scorer; he finished his career with 239 goals and 501 points in 1,160 NHL contests, rather, he was the best of his generation shutting down opposing players. Gainey registered a number of two-goal games during his career with the offered hat trick goal puck plaque his first, and only, hat trick in his 16 year career with the Montreal Canadiens. “Bob Gainey – First NHL Hat Trick” reads the engraving on the blue metal plaque with a red, white and blue enamel raised CH logo at the top, with additional details of the hat trick engraved on the lower portion of the plaque which is framed to full dimensions of approx. 9 ½” x 14 ½”. A signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany.
It must be noted that the goal puck plaque originally came mounted on a wooden plaque which was removed for framing. Aside for minor surface scuffing and a few fine scratches to the blue metal plaque, it remains in excellent condition.
