A product of the OMJHL's Cornwall Royals, Blair MacDonald would be drafted by both the NHL's Los Angeles Kings (86th overall) and WHA's Alberta Oilers (30th overall) in 1973 and choose to go the route of the World Hockey Association playing for both the Oilers and Indianapolis Racers in the WHA before joining the NHL with Edmonton in 1979-80. Calling Indianapolis home for a season and a half between 1975 and 1977, offered here is this Indianapolis Racers jersey worn by MacDonald during the 1976-77 season, his only full campaign with the club. A heavyweight durene knit garment made by Wilson, a brand label that displays a size "46" designation is affixed to the inner collar. Decorated over the front of the jersey with a Racers team crest in layered tackle twill, the sleeves and verso of the desirable garment have been accented with MacDonald's number "14" in dual layer blue-over-red tackle twill numerals while "B.J. MacDonald" is spelt out in matching style letters across the affixed white twill nameplate that is found at the top of the reverse. Sporting a loop style fight strap on the interior of the jersey, excellent game-wear is observed throughout the entirety of the garment via stick marks that are present over the front, reverse and both sleeve plus a few light board burns and a couple of unrepaired small holes that are seen over both sleeves. Also sporting some pilling some pilling over the hem line on both sides and some spot stains over the front, additional good pilling is found on the interior of the piece, heaviest around the elbow areas.
