Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Now the NHL’s all-time leading goal scorer, Alex Ovechkin signed his Team Russia captain’s game-worn jersey from the 2016 World Cup of Hockey tournament. Adidas size 58 is screened inside the back of the collar and the 2016 World Cup of Hockey patch is sewn on the left shoulder while an SAP sponsor’s patch is sewn on the right shoulder. Ovie placed a bold black marker autograph on his No. 8 on the back. The fight strap is cut. Russia played three pre-tournament games and won two of three preliminary round games before losing 5-3 in the semifinal against Canada. The Fanatics Authentic Game Worn patch is sewn inside the rear tail, and it is to note that the verification number on it can no longer be verified on the Fanatics site, and so it is unknown when during the tournament (or pre-tournament) this jersey would have been worn, with our consignor informing us that he purchased the jersey directly from Fanatics in 2016. Light game wear shows in the small material pull on the lower front area of the jersey, a long fine mark on the lower left sleeve and a few small fine marks on the left side area of the bottom of the sewn-on team crest.
