Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2020

A veteran of five NHL All-Star contests, Adam Oates was known as an especially skilled playmaker, with his 1,079 career assists placing him fifth all-time upon his retirement, in 2004. Oates also received Hall of Fame enshrinement in 2012 for his successful 19 NHL seasons. Hailing from the Michael Wexler collection, this Detroit Red Wings jersey was worn by the star in 1986-87, only his second season in Motor City. A washed-out and partially detached Maska label graces the collar, with a similar born-on date tag of “86 04” placed beneath. Styled with the classic embroidered winged-wheel team crest, the solid white V-neck has been accented with attractive single twill sleeve and verso numbers, with “Oates” arching across the upper reverse in matching material. There are also CCM and Eastside logos over the reverse hem, with the fight strap intact.
Showing great game use, a number of marks, pulls and scrapes cover the front, with heavy burns and washed-out marks over each sleeve, with pilling in numerous spots. There are also small holes present in a few areas including near the left elbow and beneath the left shoulder. Team repairs are also visible, with examples over the front (4), reverse (3), left sleeve (5) and right sleeve (5), with blue paint transfer over the right sleeve’s number.
