Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Born in Sokolce and originally christened Stanislav Gvoth in his native Slovak Republic, Stan Mikita moved to St. Catharines Ontario while still a young boy, with his aunt and uncle, Anna and Joe Mikita both adopting Stan and giving him their name. We have a baseball signed by the HOFer with both names, along with a vintage double weight photo encapsulated as “Excellent” by CGC. The ball is an Official American League example from Bobby Brown’s tenure, with Stan adding “Stanislav Gvoth Stanley Mikita #21” across the sweet spot in black ink. The 9” x 14” black and white photo pictures Stan in game action, with the Larry Regan archive listed as provenance, with a stamp from the photographer over the reverse along with “Stan Mikita” handwritten in pencil. The ball exhibits just light wear with a few small marks near the signature. The photo shows some edge and surface wear, with a few small creases near corners/edges. A JSA Basic Cert will accompany the baseball.
