The Big, Bad Bruins, led by Bobby Orr and Phil Esposito, won their third straight Prince of Wales Trophy in 1971-72, securing the East Division crown once again with a 54-13-11 record and a league-leading 119 points. Wayne Cashman's dogged corner work once again helped feed Espo's NHL-high 66 goals and 133 points and the Bruins went on to win their second Stanley Cup in three seasons. Cash received this personal Prince of Wales miniature trophy from the league to commemorate Boston's regular season title. Four towering sticks rise from the wood base to support a silver plate cup, which has acquired a golden patina over the years. Impressive award stands 13" tall overall. Two original metal plaques that accompany the trophy are missing the small nails that attached them to the 2-inch-tall wood base. One plaque lists the Bruins with the unfortunate error "Winners 971-72" under NHL Champions. The other plaque reads, "HRH Prince of Wales Trophy - Wayne Cashman". The removable lid has a dent on the edge and there is minimal silver loss around the lip of the bowl. Otherwise, this impressive personal trophy has been nicely preserved. Comes with Wayne Cashman's signed LOA.
