Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction June 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/19/2018
Literally years worth of reading is available, with endless thought-provoking articles and features found within this immense collection of vintage hockey programs and magazines. Included we have approx. 130 programs ranging from the 1950s to 1990s, with the major bulk in the early-1970s range, along with close to 200 magazines, with the majority again from the 1970s, with some modern examples mixed in. Highlights include a 1964 Game 6 Stanley Cup Finals program that witnessed a Toronto victory, forcing Game 7, along with other neat gems including a 1970 Quarter-Finals Game 2 example for the Rangers/Bruins, along with a closing program from the Montreal Forum in 1996. Magazine highlights include a copy of Le Sport Illustre from 1950 with Gerry McNeil on the cover along with the very first issue of Les Sports from 1948. Also included in this program/magazine grouping is a complete run of Pittsburgh Penguins media guides from 1968-69 to 1989-90, missing just the 1970-71 edition for completion. We also have 35 copies of The Hockey News from both 1952 and 1953, along with a dozen modern hockey calendars and a few 1990s ticket stubs. As mentioned, some of the magazines are more modern, with approx. 40 issues of Goalies’ World. The majority of the 1970s programs are void of the original inserts that listed the line-ups, with the bulk in mid-grade exhibiting expected handling wear along with the odd minor flaw or condition issue. The magazines rate about the same as the programs, with the bulk grading in the mid-range. Some of the titles include Hockey World, Hockey Illustrated and Hockey Pictorial, with covers featuring all the stars of the day including Sawchuk, Orr, Dryden, Plante, Geoffrion, Hull, Mikita, Cournoyer and others.
