Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2021
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/30/2021
Honouring the MVPs in numerous youth hockey leagues with the awarding of a trophy presented by Robin Hood Oats, we have an especially large and rare die cut stand-up advertising display from the 1940s, possibly early-1950s. At 19” x 59” at the widest points and featuring a full-size generic youth resplendent in hockey gear, the thick cardboard display includes text along the top that states “Tomorrow’s most valuable players eat today’s most valuable breakfast”, with a Robin Hood Oats MVP crest on the player’s sweater. Separated near the center (the original horizontal fold line) and held together with clear tape on the reverse, the display exhibits toning and surface wear throughout, with a few pinholes as well as light staining.
