Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction October 2016
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/9/2016
In 2010 the Lester B Pearson Trophy was re-introduced as the Ted Lindsay Award, and it is given each year to the NHL’s most outstanding player in the regular season as judged by members of the Player’s Association. This breathtaking original artwork was presented to the Hall of Famer at the unveiling of his namesake award. At 24” x 30”, the highly detailed canvas features an astonishingly lifelike portrayal of the star, resplendent in his bright Red Wings uniform set amidst an empty and quiet arena. Framed (without glass) to total dimensions of 28” x 34”, a plaque affixed below states the pertinent details. Executed by famed artist Tony Harris, his monogram sits in the bottom right section. An LOA from the Lindsay family will be included.
The centralized plaque positioned below states in full, “This painting was commissioned by the NHLPA and was presented to Mr. Lindsay to commemorate the Ted Lindsay Award, unveiled at the Hockey Hall of Fame on April 29, 2010”, with “Once a player, always a player” – Ted Lindsay. The canvas and frame remain in gorgeous condition.
Over the past 25 years Tony Harris' body of work as a professional sports portrait and landscape artist has established him one the most sought after talents internationally.
Tony has commissions with the NHL, NHLPA, PGA, LPGA, CFL and many elite sport agencies. He is under contract with the NHL Players Association to paint the Ted Lindsay Award recipient (League MVP as voted by the players). Tony is also the official artist of the RBC Canadian Open.
Tony's touch with the brush, but more so with people has landed him numerous commissions of high-profile personalities and executive business leaders. His works hang in a variety of private collections of professional athletes and corporate executives throughout the world.
