Historical Hockey and Sports Memorabilia Auction June 2025
Winning the Maurice "Rocket" Richard Trophy while also earning selection to the NHL Second All-Star team in 2009-10, Sidney Crosby would start the following season with a 25-point streak lasting from November 5, 2010, against the Anaheim Ducks, ending on December 28, 2010, against the New York Islanders. Scoring 27 goals (including three hat-tricks) and 24 assists for 51 points during the streak - which tied for 11th-longest point streak in NHL history, Crosby also scored his 200th NHL career goal in a 4–1 win over the Calgary Flames on November 27th. In the 2011 Winter Classic and in the following game on January 5th vs Tampa Bay, Crosby sustained concussion symptoms which sidelined the superstar for the rest of the season. Despite this early exit, Crosby would score 66 points in 41 games - a pace which if kept throughout the entire season if not for his injury, could have possibly resulted in 132 points - which would have been his best season!
This photo-matched helmet was worn by Crosby during the 2010-11 NHL season. A Reebok model in solid black with Oakley visor and Penguins decals to each side, there is also "87" over the lower reverse, with an NHL sticker near the right ear. "2010-11" is handwritten to the interior harness, with a size label also present which indicates a manufacturing date of "24 - JUN - 2010". Game-use includes wear shown to the interior harness and scratches, abrasions and marks to the helmet as well as scratches to the visor. The visor also has a few small cracks at the top screw on the right side. Getty Images #106762634 and #106798831 (November 10, 2010 vs Boston) have both been matched to a couple of marks under the Penguins sticker on the left side, while Getty Image #106798831 (November 12, 2010 vs Tampa Bay) has been matched to a scratch on the visor. Additionally, Getty Images #107718531, #107809084 and #107706249 (December 20, 2010 vs Phoenix) have all been matched to the two distinct scratch marks in front of the Penguins decal on the right side of the helmet.
