The New York Islanders were not to be denied in 1981-82, a season that would see them capture their third consecutive Stanley Cup. Offered is the miniature silver-plated Prince of Wales trophy presented to key Islanders center Butch Goring after their conquest of Eastern teams on their march to the Stanley Cup. Standing 13", including the 2-inch-tall wood base, this classic miniature retains its green felt under the base, and features a nameplate on one side of the base reading "NHL Champions New York Islanders 1981-82" while the other side reads "H.R.H. Prince of Wales Trophy Robert Goring". Goring's beauty is beautifully preserved with very light spots of tarnish scattered throughout. A sensational and important treasure form Goring and his Islanders glory years. Comes with its original blue cotton carrying bag and an LOA from Butch Goring. The four towering sticks rising from the wood base, which have screw-like threading entering the base, are loose from the holding nuts on the inside of the wood base. Trophy is solid and can be displayed as is.
