Wonderful 1973 NHL All Star game jersey was worn by Sabres 40-goal scorer Rene Robert, the right wing on the Sabres’ fabled French Connection line with Gilbert Perreault and Rick Martin. Robert played in two ASGs, 1973 and 1975. Wearing No. 15, he scored the first goal for the East All-Stars in his ASG debut, a 5-4 win at Madison Square Garden in New York on Jan. 30, 1973. Glorious embroidered NHL crest is sewn on the front and all numbers, name and stars are sewn on in tackle twill, with surname letters individually applied directly onto the white durene jersey. Gerry Cosby tag is sewn over Wilson size tag in the neck, with size 48 added in handwritten ballpoint on the washing instruction tag below it.
There are small reddish-brown stains on the front of the left shoulder in front of and below the small embroidered NHL patch, and faint stains adjacent to the side and back of the black knit collar. A small dry cleaning tag is stapled inside the right rear hem near the hip seam.
Robert wore No. 15 at the 1973 NHL All-Star Game because the No. 14 he wore with the Sabres was claimed on the basis of seniority with the East All-Stars by Toronto Maple Leafs center Dave Keon. Robert wore No. 14 when he played in the 1975 ASG, contributing one assist to a 7-1 win for the Wales Conference at the Montreal Forum.
