The 1977-78 Montreal Canadiens were dominant in defending their Prince of Wales Conference title, finishing with an astonishing 59-10-11 record to fall just one win short of matching the NHL record they set the previous season. Pierre Larouche, who was acquired from Pittsburgh in late November for Peter Mahovlich and Peter Lee, contributed 17 goals and 32 assists in 44 games with the Habs, posting 23 goals and 60 points overall, two years after a 53-goal sophomore campaign. Standing 13" tall, this is the individual Prince of Wales trophy that was presented by the league to Larouche, who signed in black marker on the bottom of the wood base. Please see our website description for more information about this official NHL award which comes with Pierre Larouche's signed LOA. "H.R.H Prince of Wales Trophy – Pierre Larouche" is engraved on the plaque on the front of the 5” x 5” wood base, which stands 2” tall. "N.H.L. Champions - Montreal Canadiens - 1977-78" is engraved on another plaque on the opposite side of the base. This miniature version of the league award features four hockey sticks supporting a narrow cup with a removable lid, which has a small dent on the edge. The silver-plated trophy has cleanable tarnish and overall the award remains a splendid display piece.
