A standout during his collegiate-playing days with Boston College as an All-New England, All-East and first team All-American award recipient, Paul Hurley played just a single NHL contest for the Boston Bruins, with five seasons later spent in the WHA. From his time representing his nation, we have a Team USA jersey worn by the Massachusetts native at the 1968 Winter Olympics in Grenoble, where he saw action in 7 games and scored 6 points. A Gerry Cosby label with “67” (year) and “46” (size) swatches are affixed to the inside hem, with no other tagging present. Featuring “USA” placed across the chest in stylized individual drop-shadow layered tackle twill letters, “6” is sewn to the sleeves and verso in matching material, with six-eyelet configuration on tie-neck construction. As an added bonus, Hurley’s gloves, pant shells, practice jersey and uniform socks from the tournament are also included, with each item originating from his personal collection.
The jersey remains in beautiful condition and sports light game-use with just a few random marks visible. There is also some minor pilling. The practice jersey is a white Hanes sweater with reinforced elbow sections and screened on “US Olympic Hockey” graphics, with heavy wear including to the graphics. The gloves are Cooper 18G models in US colours with “6” screened to each, with moderate to heavier wear exhibited including holes to the palms. The pant shells also sports Team USA colours and show light wear, with a single repair along with a few material runs to the uniform socks.
