Starring for the crosstown Cougars after seven seasons with the Chicago Black Hawks, Pat Stapleton transitioned to the WHA in 1973-74 and brought his big league expertise while serving as a player-coach. Stapleton would lead the club in assists while the Cougars advancing to the Avco Cup final. This team-signed stick was used by Stapleton during his first season with the Chicago Cougars in 1973-74. A Sher-Wood model with “Stapleton” and “12” stamped to the upper shaft, the original black tape remains on the blade and white beehive pattern over the knob, with heavy use shown including wear to the underside of the blade and a minor separation at the heel, with marks and small areas of red paint transfer to the shaft and taped knob. 27 have signed one side of the shaft in matching black ink including Stapleton, along with Backstrom, Benzelock, Fleming, Harris, Popiel, Proceviat, Maggs, Hardy, Morris, Newton, Paiement, Mavety, Zaine, Sicinski, Watson, Liddington, Shmyr, Forey and a few others. An LOA from the Stapleton family will accompany.
