Officially recognized as the 22nd NHL All-Star contest, with Frank Mahovlich taking home MVP honours, the 1969 best-on-best showcase featured the West Division battling the East, with the contest ending 3-3. Chicago Black Hawks star Pat Stapleton would assist on the first East goal, and we offer a program team-signed by the East Division that originates from Stapleton’s personal collection. Taking place at the Montreal Forum on Jan 21, 1969, the Habs program with Glenn Hall cover sports an intact line-up page listing the superstars from each side, with 16 signing the cover – mostly in blue ballpoint – with a few faded signatures that appear to have been executed in coloured pencil. Signers include Stapleton along with HOFers Howe (signature is slightly infringed upon), Orr, Horton (faded coloured pencil signature), Blake (came out of retirement to coach the East Division), Mikita, Mahovlich, Giacomin, Hull, Beliveau, Gilbert (faded coloured pencil signature) and Phil Esposito, as well as Hull, Tremblay, Harris and Bob Nevin. The program sports just light handling wear, with some additional surface wear to the intact line-up page. An LOA from the Stapleton family will accompany.
