Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2022
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 3/1/2022
Starring in the OHA in a pair of seasons in the late-1950s with the St. Catharines Teepees, Pat Stapleton registered over 80 points during his tenure with the club despite being a defenseman, and helped lead the Teepees to a Memorial Cup title in 1959-60. From the Memorial Cup championship season of 1959-60, we have a team-signed stick used by Stapleton. A CCM Pattern Made Professional model with “Left” and “5” (the lie) stamped along with “Whitey” (Stapleton’s nickname) and “3” (uniform number) handwritten, the original black tape covers the blade (a few strand are missing, with the outline visible) and knob. Stamps also appear on each side of the shaft from team supplier “Norman’s Cycle and Sports”. Exhibiting moderate use with a hairline crack/separation along the underside of the blade at the heel, the stick remains completely solid, with a few marks and additional wear to the shaft. Approx 21 have signed both sides of the shaft in black marker including Stapleton, along with R Maki, Cullen, Grosso, Harris, Robinson, Hall, Brenneman, McGuire, Longarini, B Maki, Ives, Speers, Berge, Burns, Predovich, Crozier, coach Max Kaminsky and others. An unscored Teepees program with Vic Hadfield cover for a match against St Michaels Majors with Stapleton in the line-up will also be included. An LOA from the Stapleton family will accompany.
