Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Winter 2013

This special photo-matched Rangers game-worn captain's jersey was sported by HOFer Mike Gartner during the 1990-91 season. One of only six players in NHL history to top 700 regular season goals, Mike wore the hastily-sewn-on C on the left breast of this gamer when captain Kelly Kisio was out with an injury. Jersey with custom-shortened sleeves and hemmed-up body has Gerry Cosby tagging sewn in the back of the neck along with a CCM flag tag with a faint "52" handwritten in ballpoint. A digital image is included of the photo of Gartner that shows the very special captain's C and a variety of distinctive black marks on the front which are detailed in our online description along with solid game wear. Photo matches include the black mark just above and slightly to the left of the C on the left breast, the long black diagonal slash line that rises up to the first R in “Rangers”, the small black mark below the second R, and a few other black marks on the front.
We count a total of 17 team repairs, most on the surgically repaired right elbow with more higher on the sleeve as well as on the back of the left sleeve and to the right of the numbers on the lower back;
More game wear includes board burns with blue paint transfer on and around the numbers on the right sleeve and black marks on the sleeves and lower back.
