As the 2003-04 season came to an end, Luc Robitaille kept his final L.A. Kings game-worn home jersey because he believed he had played his last NHL game at the Staples Center. This Kings gamer from Robitaille’s personal collection is from the Kings’ 3-2 loss to Calgary on April 2, 2004. Though Robitaille returned after the lockout to make the 2005-06 campaign his swan song, this alternate captain’s jersey with Robitaille’s now-retired #20 is a beauty to behold all the same. Light but discernible wear shows in black mark on the front tail and light board burns around the left elbow. Please see our website description for more information on this lot which comes with Luc Robitaille’s signed LOA. Kings equipment man Peter Millar placed his initials and his team jersey set “3” marking on the “MeiGray NHL Game-Worn Jersey 2003-2004 Season” sewn inside the rear tail. Size 56 Canadian flag fly tag remains in the neck. The whole and intact fight strap displays the effects of this gamer’s numerous runs through the Kings’ laundry cycle. Included here is an NHL “official report of match” form, a second copy completed in original handwriting by official scorer Gary Evans for Robitaille to keep, which referee Mike Leggo signed. Also included are six carbon copies of the actual NHL official scorer’s documents from the game.
