The Los Angeles Kings struck gold deep into the 1984 NHL draft when they chose Luc Robitaille with the 171st pick overall. Lucky Luc scored 45 goal and 84 points as a rookie in 1986-87 and followed that up the following year with the first of his three 50-goal seasons and four 100-point campaigns. Offered here from Luc’s personal collection are a pair of his milestone goal pucks from the end of the 1987-88 season, including his 50th goal puck. Also featured is a four-point Robitaille puck from the Kings' next game which saw Luc fire a hat trick against Edmonton. Both pucks are colorfully painted on the reverse with game details. Completing the lot is a team-signed framed “50th Goal” portrait autographed by 27 members of the 1987-88 Kings. Please see our website description for more information about this lot, which comes with Luc Robitaille's signed LOA. “50th Goal, Luc Robitaille, Kings 6, Calgary Flames 3, 4.1.88) is colorfully painted on the reverse of a Flames Viceroy NHL official game puck, a model with a rubber-crested Flaming C logo that was officially used until 1983 and likely from an old batch used by Calgary for the late-season game. Robitaille followed that up with a hat trick and an assist in his next game, a 5-3 win over Edmonton on April 3, 1988, to finish his sophomore season with 53 goals and 58 assists for 111 points. The Kings logo is screened on the face of this puck, the correct model used by the team in 1987-88, and more great artwork adorns the reverse with the heading “Great Leadership” followed by Robitaille’s name, “3 goals, 1 Assist”, and the result and date of the game. The team-signed framed “50th Goal” portrait is signed by Taylor, Nicholls, Carson, Duchesne and Carpenter, among others, many with personalized dedications, on this 12 1/2" x 16” original illustration mounted in a 19 1/4” x 22 1/2" frame.
