Edmonton Oilers Auction 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/16/2005
Ancient red wood slat chairs from the storied Chicago Stadium, home of the Chicago Black Hawks from 1929 to 1994. The Chicago Stadium was the city's premier all-purpose indoor arena for 65 years. Built for $7 million by West Side promoter Paddy Harmon, it opened with a boxing match on March 28, 1929. After that came midget car races, rodeos, political conventions, rock concerts, water shows, six-day bicycle races, circuses, soccer games, church services and of course, the Chicago Black Hawks. This red folding three-seat section with original legs, paint and charm comes to you exactly as it was when removed from the now-demolished historic arena in the Windy city. These folding seats were used from ice level up to about the tenth row and also on the floor during boxing matches. Old time hockey!
