Edmonton Oilers Auction 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/16/2005
Dave Semenko's white mesh Edmonton Oilers uniform, worn during his second season in the National Hockey League. Wayne Gretzky put it best when he said that Dave Semenko "allowed me to have more room on the ice". This heavy mesh jersey has had the neck tagging removed but we can assure you, it was one of the larger uniforms in the set. Manufactured by Sandow with their company logo screened onto the outer hem. The heavy canvas loop-style fight strap is there in the tail, but Dave did most of his best work stripped to the waist. This uniform was one from the Wexler collection and originally came from the Oilers missing the nameplate. Most of the examples we see from this set, worn during the second half of the 1980-81 season, no longer have the plates. Lighter wear with about 30 stick marks and slashes, some board paint transfer and light blood staining at the cuffs (most certainly not Dave's blood!). Obtained directly from the Edmonton Oilers and comes with an extensive package of documentation from the Meigray Group including a team letter of authenticity on Oilers letterhead.
