Edmonton Oilers Auction 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/16/2005
Professional hockey comes to Edmonton! Hammered dureen uniform worn by NHL and WHA regular Ed Joyal during the inaugural season for the Alberta Oilers of the World Hockey Association. Wonderful old style chain-stitching on the team logo and the "Joyal" nameplate. Worn into many on-ice battles by the St. Albert-born Ed Joyal, as evidenced by no less than forty large team repairs. This example is from the white set as it has a "last-name-only" name plate. The team wore "Alberta" plates on the orange set in 1972-73 with full first and last names across the plates the following season. The Western Athletic tagging is gone from the lower hem but stitching from where it was once attached still remains. An historic uniform dating back to the earliest days of high-caliber hockey in Alberta.
