Edmonton Oilers Auction 2005
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 12/16/2005
Ancient blue and gold wool sweater with the amazing felt jet team logo of the Edmonton Flyers dates back to the late-1950's. This coarse uniform sports the number "15" on the back and again on the upper chest. Old-style tie-neck with a Cloverdale Knitting Mills, Edmonton manufacturer tag. Heavier wear and washing on this seldom-seen example with seven or eight darned wool repairs and a good number of unrepaired holes. Both sleeves have large holes at the elbows and cuffs but this attractive sweater does display well. The Flyers were a dominant team in the Western League throughout the Fifties and into the Sixties and acted as a farm club for the NHL's Detroit Red Wings. Alumni include Val Fonteyne and Hall of Fame netminder Glen Hall. From the personal collection of Rick "The Stick" Elaschuk with his signed letter of provenance.
