A hobby event is our consignor's high grade encapsulated 1951-52 Parkhurst set which is being auctioned in a complete set vs. (four) individual lot format, with further details below. One of the four individual lots is this dazzling rookie card of the amazing Terry Sawchuk. Earning appropriate NM-MT 8 recognition from PSA, this example of card #61 boasts outstanding registration and clarity - we cannot imagine superior. It captivates the beholder, with the as-issued boldness of the text below the image also striking. Winnipeg-born Terry had been named the NHL's Calder Trophy winner as rookie-of-the-year the season prior to appearing on his rookie card, his 11 shutouts, sub 2.00 goals-against-average and 44-13-13 won-loss-tied record highly impressive. This card's standing at PSA is also impressive, with company numbers revealing that just 24 of over 400 Sawchuk RCs (424 as of May, 2020) to be submitted to the firm since its inception have edged this one, a Pop 58. One GEM MT 10, eight MINT 9s and nine NM-MT+ 8.5s are on record. The NHL shutout king for decades was Terry, with this Sawchuk a '51-52 Parkie kingpin in ultra-delectable condition.
