Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
The current high bids for the cumulative group of sublots, $34,134.00, is currently higher than the total for the set, $30,597.00 (this lot is currently winning)
A momentous opportunity is our consignor's high grade encapsulated 1951-52 Parkhurst set which is being auctioned in a complete set vs. (four) individual lot format, with further details below. .....A splendid chance here to score the coveted rookie card of hockey icon Maurice Richard, long heralded as hockey's greatest goal scorer, with this card #4 extremely captivating and in close to the same condition as when it was removed from a little cardboard Parkhurst box/wrapper close to 70 years ago - fantastique! At the time, the Rocket was in his tenth of 18 seasons and coming off back-to-back 40-goals campaigns, scoring 42 in '50-51 to bring his career total to 292, en route to founding the NHL's 500-goal club. With bold rich original colors and apparent impossible-to-improve centering, this specimen merited lofty NM-MT 8 status at PSA. The PSA Population Report indicates that of the 445 Richard RCs examined by the company over the years (as of May, 2020), just eight examples have ever scored higher than this (Pop 33) treasure; five MINT 9s and three NM-MT+ 8.5s. A key, key postwar collectible, this scarcity is sure to interest and excite Maurice Richard, Montreal Canadiens, rookie card, '51-52 Parkhurst and high grade enthusiasts - oh, to own a PSA 8 Rocket rookie!
