Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Before the Original Six era, the New York Americans “moved” to Brooklyn before disbanding – but their lone year of existence is captured inside a Madison Square Garden program from January 1, 1942 that was shared with the New York Rangers. The Broadway Blueshirts played Toronto that night, but this intriguing treasure leads off an incredible lot for vintage hockey fans. Also included in this intriguing lot are Montreal Forum Sports Magazines from 1938-39, Game 1 of the 1945 playoffs, two from 1945-46, 1958-59, 1959-60, an undated 1967 playoff game vs. New York (missing middle section), a Madison Square Garden program from 1959-60, the final game at the Montreal Forum and several more. Buyers can expect an excellent assortment of oversized Canadiens programs from the late-1960s and early-1970s. Included in this grouping is a playoff program from the 1969 playoff battle between the Habs and Bruins along with a 1972 program signed boldly on the front by Jean Beliveau – but the most intriguing of the bunch comes from Gordie Howe’s final game against Montreal as a member of the Detroit Red Wings on March 27, 1971 and it is signed on the cover by Gerry Hart and Red Berenson. Rounding out the lot are the Hockey Canada and official tournament versions of the 1976 Canada Cup program, a Canadiens Official Magazine from 1978-79, Goal Magazine (Montreal vs. Philadelphia,
January 20, 1977) signed by Larry Robinson, and 1972 Playoffs program (Montreal vs. New York). Please note that condition on these items varies and may have pen marks or missing pages.
