Meeting in the semifinals during the 1958-59 NHL playoffs, the Montreal Canadiens would defeat the Chicago Black Hawks in 6 games before moving on to claim their fourth consecutive Stanley Cup championship. Habs legends Maurice Richard, Toe Blake, Jacques Plante and Doug Harvey and fellow HOFer Rudy Pilous are among the 1958-59 Canadiens and Black Hawks who signed this desirable vintage game-issued CCM goalie stick with a stamp from team supplier Raymond Hardware on one side of the shaft. Chicago's Bobby Hull, Glenn Hall, Pierre Pilote, Ted Lindsay and Al Arbour signed, along with fellow HOFers Jean Beliveau, Henri Richard and Dickie Moore, among others.
Blake signed at the top of the front of the paddle along with Beliveau, Henri Richard, Turner, Backstrom, Langlois and Maurice Richard. Plante signed above the band of blue tape on the handle followed by Pronovost and Provost. More signatures above the “Raymond Hardware Ltd.” stamp on the shaft include Marshall, Moore, Cushenan, Harvey, Bonin and Goyette, at the top of the shaft; The back of the paddle is signed by 19, including Glover, Wharram, St. Laurent, Lewicki, Arbour, Sloan, Hall, Evans, Vasko, Lindsay, Skov, Murphy, Pilous, Hull, Litzenberger, Pilote, Ferguson, among others; CCM Professional goalie stick is solid and crack-free, with just a slight bit of aging separation in the front edge of the blade on the top of the heel. “McNeil” is stamped on the front of the shaft though Gerry McNeil played his final games for the Canadiens the previous season and spent the 1958-59 season with Rochester of the AHL.
