Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
One of the most desired and sought relics from the famous international tournament played between the Soviet Union and Canada in 1972, this rarely-seen Summit Series game puck was originally obtained by our consignor in 1972 from Doug Moore, chief engineer at Maple Leaf Gardens and ice maker for the Summit Series, with Moore obtaining the puck during Game 2, played on Sept 4, 1972. The details were then scratched into the reverse of the puck including “Canada vs Russia”, “Toronto Game 2” and “C-4 R-1”. The obverse feature’s the Hockey Canada decal, with toning and surface crazing visible, with just light overall wear to the puck itself. A true prize representing the most important international hockey tournament ever played, this specimen is worthy of considerable veneration.
