Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Each puck originally distributed by Hockey Diversified could be obtained by mail with the buyer’s choice of team and possibly player. A label was affixed to each puck listing the scorer, team and date, along with a code that divulged which team-goal said puck accounted for. This particular puck was used by HOF member Frank Mahovlich to score the Montreal Canadiens 234th goal of the season vs the New York Rangers, at MSG, on March 6, 1974. Assisted by his brother Peter Mahovlich, it was the Timmins native’s 21st goal of the season and 523rd of his career, with a total of 533 career goals scored. A shorthanded marker plotted at 9:59 of the first to put the Habs up by one, the Rangers would go on to score eight unanswered goals, with the contest finishing 9-2. The rubberized Rangers logo exhibits a small line, with a few faint blemishes to the Goal Puck Program label, with light wear to the puck itself.
