Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Some fun to be had here with an array of vintage collectibles, led chronologically and in numbers by 137 Bowman baseball cards from 1955. They're low grade with creases, rounded corners and, at times, noticeable surface wear but include a notable "top 10"; 1-Wilhelm, 23-Kaline, 33-Fox, 103-Mathews, 130-Ashburn, 134-Feller, 143-Newcombe, 158-Hodges, 171-Roberts and 239-Rommel, with Piersall, Wynn, Slaughter, Kuenn and Malzone RC also present. Similar in condition but with far less star power are (35) 1956 Topps entries, with a hammered Hank Aaron card noteworthy. An attractive 1965 O-Pee-Chee Aaron card (EX) carries more weight, as do Topps Mickey Mantle cards from 1960 (G) and 1962 (F-G), with a '63 Topps Roger Maris at VG+. Seven 1960 Topps "Rookie Star" cards are present but uninspiring, while hockey representatives include (30) '54-55 Parkies. Again, low grade (P, F), with however a Johnny Bower RC, the first and last cards, Sawchuk (writing) and a few action cards to mention. Condition improves with some miscellaneous baseball and hockey inserts; (13) 1970 Topps posters are still folded and include Clemente (2), Bench and Frank Robinson, while some two dozen '70-71 Deckle Edge hockey cards are dominated by crease-free EX-or-better examples and include Hull, Hall, Mahovlich, Richard, Cournoyer, Park and Gilbert. Throw-ins are (17) cards from a baseball game and a few other goodies.
