Formed to accommodate the English community in a city strongly dominated by French language and culture, the Montreal Maroons began play in the 1924-25 NHL season, and boasting eleven HOF members throughout their short history, the club was able to earn a pair of Stanley Cup championships including in just their second season. This lot offers a nice collection of Maroons material, highlighted by a vintage wallet attributed to the club, the first of which we have ever seen. At just 3 ½” x 4 ½” (closed), the small brown billfold leather wallet feature’s “Gift of Montreal’s Maroon Club” in gilt over the cover, with “Made in England” within the interior. Exhibiting light to moderate wear from use, there are no unsightly marks or damage. Next, we have a Montreal Forum program for a Maroons tilt vs the Boston Bruins, Dec 5, 1925. Featuring an intact center line-up that lists legendary HOF superstars Clint Benedict, Nels Stewart and Punch Broadbent, the 32-page program display nicely, with light to moderate wear and toning throughout, with rusting to each of the staples. This is followed by a pair of Crown Brand team photos affixed to their original backings (6 ½” x 10”), for 1936-37 and 1937-38, a British Consols team photo from 1932-33 (6” x 9”) and a CCM Brown Border team photo from 1933-34 (9” x 11”). The 1936-37 photo exhibits some creases and surface wear, with just light wear to the 1937-38 photo. The British Consols team photo is in poor condition, with heavy creasing, edge tears and a large pin hole. Finally, the CCM team photo exhibits a large vertical fold line, a small crease and heavy spotting throughout.
