This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Dominated by various photos hailing from his time with the Montreal Canadiens, this lot contains a great grouping of memorabilia originating from the personal collection of former Habs captain and six-time Stanley Cup champion Bob Gainey. Featuring over 50 signed items, we have seven different framed displays including a full color portrait on board that was originally displayed at the Montreal Forum, an additional approx 150 photos including personal examples and team issues (there is moderate duplication), two signed early-1990s lithos (18” x 24 ½”), a signed oversized portrait photo with the Stanley Cup (20” x 24”) and more! The signed items include approx 34 photos of varying sizes, 8 postcards, 8 hockey cards and a single signed puck. A signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany.
The signed photos range in size from approx 5” x 7” to 8” x 12”, with the majority of the signatures scripted in blue sharpie. The unsigned photos are highlighted by a number of desirable images including Gainey in game action against the Russians, shaking hands with Prime Minister Brian Mulroney, posing with Aurel Joliat, and more. There are also a few David Bier photos included, with his name embossed over the lower left on each. The additional framed displays include a needlepoint Habs logo with Gainey’s Selke wins listed (11” x 12”), a small RCMP display with “Bob Gainey” plaque (6” x 6”), Gainey posing with the Stanley Cup with facsimile signatures on board (16” x 19”), a framed press release (17” x 21”), original artwork (17” x 20”) and more, with the frames all showing light to moderate degrees of wear. Also included in the lot, we have a Habs cap from 1989, a Canadiens book and a few DVDs, an oversized 2002-03 Canadiens ticket with Gainey image sealed in lucite (4 ½” x 9”), 9 misc pucks, a number of Habs decals, over 50 unsigned Gainey postcards and more!
