With Wayne Gretzky’s 14 points leading the tournament, the 1982 IIHF World Championships featured a strong Soviet Union team taking gold, with HOF superstar Bob Gainey seeing action in each of Team Canada’s contests. This Team Canada jersey was worn by the four-time Frank J. Selke Trophy winner at the 1982 IIHF World Championships. Sandow and laundering labels grace the collar with “Helsinki World Cup 1982” handwritten, with the vintage sweater measuring-out to roughly a size 56, with a second Sandow logo over the reverse hem. Sporting heat-pressed identifiers including “Canada” arching across the chest and “23” over the sleeves and verso, “Gainey” appears over the nameplate in affixed tackle twill letters, with a loop-style fight strap intact. Worn by a prominent HOF member while representing Canada, a signed LOA from Bob Gainey will accompany this desirable international jersey.
A few large and dark marks are visible over the upper chest, with a few small holes resulting from board burns over the right sleeve, with larger examples over the left. There is also a bit of discolouration along the collar.
