Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Spending a pair of seasons with the University of Alabama-Huntsville before moving on to an additional two seasons with the University of North Dakota, netminder Clarke Saunders would help lead the school to the National semifinals vs Minnesota, in 2013-14. This mask was worn by Saunders during his two seasons with UND, in 2012-13 and 2013-14, with continued use as he transitioned to the Colorado Eagles of the ECHL, in 2014-15. Produced by Warwick and finished in Fighting Hawks’ green with intact cage, back plate, strapping, and interior padding, “Saundy” appears over the chin section, with UND logos over each side. A Warwick decal affixed to the interior lists Saunders and UND along with “Custom Made 7-25-2012”. Additional graphics cover the back plate including a decal from Gilder Design (clear-coated over, with a second decal over the top reverse). A pair of photos showing Saunders wearing this mask with Colorado and photo-matched to the chip in the “U” on the chin will accompany.
A few additional handwritten notes are visible within the interior, including “Titanium cage”, with a piece of nylon fishing line placed across the reverse, ear to ear for display purposes. A few chips are visible to the surface including along edges and over “Saundy”, with the interior strapping showing fraying. A Bauer carrying/storage bag is also included.
