Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
Originally worn by pitcher Elias Sosa during his second season with Montreal in 1980, this Expos jersey exhibits evidence of a former nameplate that once covered the Sosa nameplate, leading us to believe that it was recycled to a farm team at some point, although we cannot confirm that a minor league crest ever covered the Expos team crest. Additionally, the team crest and numbers exhibit stitching that has let go, a sign of repeated use and washings, with this lending further credence to the jersey being recycled. A Rawlings label with “42” sizing resides on the inside front right tail, with a “Set 2 1980” tag placed adjacently. Featuring a tackle twill team crest with “Expos” placed beneath in individual blue twill letters, “27” appears over the reverse and right breast in matching material, with “Sosa” arching over the upper reverse. Missing a single button, the jersey exhibits minor discolouration over the front, with sweat staining visible within each armpit section.
