Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
One of only seven men throughout a century of NHL hockey to eclipse the insurmountable 700-goal plateau, Alexander Ovechkin has proven himself as one of the game’s all-time greatest, with HOF enshrinement guaranteed. From the 2018 NHL Stadium Series game played between the Washington Capitals and Toronto Maple Leafs at Navy–Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, on March 3, 2018, we have the helmet Ovie wore in the contest, and it was worn a second time, with the Stadium Series decal removed (included) and an NHL shield sticker added for use in the March 20th regular-season game vs Dallas. A CCM model in solid navy with Caps decals gracing each side, “8” decals have also been added to the front and reverse, with the NHL shield sticker neat the right ear. Ovechkin would score a goal in the Stadium Series game, with three points netted including a goal in the March 20th contest. An LOA from the Washington Capitals will accompany.
The visor, chin strap and interior harness are all intact, with light to moderate wear exhibited on the head gear, with a number of scratches and surface abrasions visible. A small metal plaque with the particulars of the helmet is also included (2" x 7").
