Adopting the "Blackhawk Division" nickname of the 333rd Machine Gun Battalion of the 86th Infantry Division during World War I, the Chicago Black Hawks are the fourth most successful NHL club in history along with Boston, with each club hoisting Lord Stanley’s hardware six times. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have a pair of attractive team-signed card stock sheets, one featuring the 1944-45 Black Hawks, the other, the 1950-51 club. With each at approx 5 ½” x 7”, the 1944-45 sheet includes Hawks graphics, with 21 signing in matching black ink including HOFers Mosienko, Smith and Earl Siebert. The 1950-51 sheet has been signed by 19 in matching blue ink including HOFers Mosienko, Lumley, Stewart, Gadsby, Olmstead, Bentley, Conacher and coach Ebbie Goodfellow.
The additional signers on the 1944-45 sheet include Horeck, Cooper, Dahlstrom, Brayshaw, March, Harms, Fraser, Purpur, Check, Thoms, Mitchell, Papike, Johnson, Karakas, Stevenson, Thompson and Johnny Gottselig. The additional signers on the 1950-51 sheet include Babando, Guidolin, Brown, Bodnar, Morrison, Dewsbury, Lundy, Dickens, Stasiuk, McCaig and Gord Fashoway. The signatures all present beautifully, with some paper residue from scrapbook removal over each reverse. There is also a notation on the 1950-51 sheet that it was received back by Hamlyn in November of 1950.
