Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Spring 2020
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 6/16/2020
An original member of the Detroit Cougars in 1926-27, Frank Corbett "The Flash" Foyston spent the majority of his career in the old PCHA, and is one of only 11 players in history to have won the Stanley Cup with a trio or more of different clubs, including the Toronto Blueshirts in 1914, the Seattle Metropolitans in 1917, and the Victoria Cougars in 1925. Originating from the incomparable autograph collection of E. Robert Hamlyn, we have a handwritten letter signed by the 1958 HOF inductee. At 6 ¼” x 9 ½”, the single-page, 1959 fountain pen communication has Foyston mentioning how flattered he was to receive a request for his signature. Sporting just a few lighter areas along the top of each “F”, the signature displays wonderfully. Passing away in Seattle, Washington, in 1966, Foyston was 74.
The letter itself remains in excellent condition, with just a pair of punched holes along the top section for binder insertion.
