Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
An interesting group of mostly vintage programs, we have a collection of approx. 28 with a heavy Montreal focus, with a few additional items including a rare 1940s Butch Bouchard RPPC. There are 14 baseball programs (1950s), mostly Montreal Royals and Expos, along with a 1959 Game 2 World Series program (scored) and 1982 All-Star Game program (with ticket stub). This is followed by 6 hockey programs, including a “Game of the Century” example from 1975, a 1971 semifinals program (Mtl vs Minn) and 1975 quarterfinals program (Mtl vs Van). Next, we have 8 Montreal Alouettes programs (1950s/60s), along with the Bouchard RPPC, a Maurice Richard exhibit card, a Jean Beliveau signature cut, a 1952-53 Canadiens broadside advertisement from Dow, 21 vintage newsprint player pictures (La Patrie & Perspectives) and more.
The Bouchard real photo postcard is in a lower technical grade but displays well with pinholes, surface wear and light creasing, with the reverse stained/discoloured. The Richard exhibit card also exhibits just a few minor creases, with the Beliveau signature cut in ballpoint on a 3” x 3 ¼” Player’s cigarette carton lid. The programs in the collection all sport expected handling wear commensurate with their prior use, with some foxing to the covers of both the 1959 World Series program and the 1982 All-Star Game example. The vintage newsprint La Patrie and Perspectives pictures are in mid-to-lower grade, with Harvey, Hull, Sawchuk, Beliveau, Bouchard, The Rocket and others included. Rounding out the lot, the Habs Dow advertisement is 11” x 14 ½” on paper stock, a team photo is featured, with tape repair and fold lines. Also included are 3 Expos pinbacks from the 1970s/80s.
