Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
The first of its kind we’ve offered, and charming in appearance with a folk art aesthetic, we have a vintage hockey rug or possibly tapestry most likely from the 1950s or earlier, with this example featuring an attractively-designed generic Team Canada player. At approx. 27” x 38”, the player is intricately woven, with a Team Canada jersey featured that is similar in style to the examples worn in the 1920s/30s, with details of the arena background along with the puck wonderfully executed. A fringe appears along the base, void at the top, with this possibly lending credence to a tapestry, with some very minor discolouration along the top seam.
