This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Representing 75 members of the prestigious Hockey Hall of Fame including 60 who have all sadly left us, we have a large collection of 1983 HHOF postcards totaling 85, with signatures present from an endless list of past legends. 69 signed postcards are present for deceased members including 49 for Players (42 different players represented), along with another 20 for deceased Builders/Referees/Linesmen (18 different represented). An additional 16 postcards from living Hall members (15 different), as well as three HOF cards signed by Dickie Moore, Norm Ullman and Red Storey are also included. Highlights include examples for Blake, Clancy, Coulter, Mosienko, Pratt, Harvey, Bailey, Primeau, Abel, Dutton, Colville, Day, Cowley, Schriner, Hextall and Bill Cook. Executed in mixed inks, the majority of the signatures display well, with a few lighter from weak pens. The postcards themselves all survive in beautiful condition, showing just expected light wear from handling.
Other deceased HOF players in the collection include Quakenbush, Goodfellow, Richard (2), Johnson (2), Worsley (2), Rayner (2), Reardon (2), Lach (2), Kennedy (2), Schmidt, Pronovost, Pilote, Moore, Lumley, Apps, Beliveau, Brimsek, Gadsby, Mikita, Geoffrion, Bouchard, Stanley, Bathgate, Horner, Howe and Johnny Bower, while the included HOF Builders/Referees/Linesmen are Wirtz (2), Ashley (2), Chadwick, Storey, Udvari, Butterfield, Campbell, Hewitt, Lebel, Dilio, Pollock, Molson, Selke, Juckes, Ivan, Ballard, Voss and W. Thayer Tutt. Lastly, the living HOFers include Ullman (2), Lindsay, Bucyk, Cournoyer, Delvecchio, Hall, Francis, Mahovlich, Orr, Richard, Kelly, Gilbert, Howell, Armstrong and Ken Dryden. Finally, to note, the Harvey postcard has an indentation of what looks to be a large “D”, with it appearing that Harvey started to sign at this spot, but the ink wasn’t being dispersed. The Primeau has a dedication with only the indentation noticeable, while the Day postcard has an imprint over the surface from the signing of a different postcard.
