Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

Exhibiting handling but definitely not abused are these Topps cards, with 1959-60 marking the first season that action cards appeared in a Topps hockey issue. We spot but eight cards with an obvious crease, with however the second-year Bobby Hull example one of them. Card #47 is off-centered, with a 1-1/2" vertical crease that rises up from the bottom edge to reach Bobby's thick neck, to go along with a surface scratch and indentation and light corner wear. We'd say G+, with similar lower grade cards including the first and last cards; 1-Nesterenko and 66-Murphy, both G. The rest are dominated by VG, VG+ and VG-EX cards, with a few making it to EX. Joining the aforementioned in the set's "Top 10" and in order of importance/value are 63-Howe (VG), 42-Sawchuk (VG+), 32-Hall (VG+), 57-Shack (VG), 48-Howe in Action (EX), 15-Worsley (VG+), 23-Bucyk (VG+) and 45-Ullman (VG-EX). Lindsay, Delvecchio, Pilote, Bathgate, Kelly and still others join the Hall of Fame lineup, with the rather uniform condition an attribute. Just two rookie cards are present; 33-M. Balfour (VG-EX) and 49-Marcon (G).
