Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Mr. Hockey himself, the late, great Gordie Howe autographed his multi-signed 1978-79 New England Whalers game-used stick from the WHA’s swan song season. Gordie’s original tape jobs remain on the blade and on the knob, which has “Howe G.” stamped below it on the upper shaft and his iconic No. “9” handwritten below that in black marker. Howe signed over the two O’s of the Sher-Wood logo on the front of the shaft of his P.M.P. 5030 gamer that has a factory date stamp that appears to read “11 Oct. 1978” on the back of the lower shaft. Fellow HOFer Dave Keon is also among the 15 red marker autographs that include Marty Howe, Mike Rogers, Rick Ley and all-time WHA scoring leader Andre Lacroix.
Goalies John Garrett and Al Smith have also signed along with Brad Selwood, Gord Roberts, Mike Antonovich, George Lyle, Al Hangsleben, Ron Plumb and Jordy Douglas (smudged).
