Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
A mostly low grade Parkhurst and Topps combination here, with (43) 1951-52 Parkies leading chronologically and featuring rookie cards of Geoffrion (F)(light back damage), Quackenbush (VG), Mosienko (P), Kelly (G), Lindsay (P) and 105-Conacher (F), along with 1-Lach (G) 28-Dumart (VG) and Broda (F). Fourteen others have back damage or tape on the front, with another 18 featuring a half dozen in the VG neighborhood. Best are PSA 4s (VG-EX) of 23-Henderson RC and 68-Pronovost RC. Meanwhile a Parkie set from '53-54 is low grade due to the original owner adding "1953" in pencil to the front of each card. An eraser has removed most of the lead but not the indentations - visible on all. Beliveau and Worsley RCs are decent otherwise (VG, VG+ respectively), similar to Howe and the many of the rest. Minor paper loss on the back of Richard, a multi-creased Horton and a (P) 1-Lumley are also notable. A Parkie album is rough but has its 11 cardboard "sheets". A '61-62 Topps card set also has some condition issues, with more details available on our website.
All but two dozen of the '61-62 Topps cards have a major flaw or more, in most instances pen marks or writing on the reverse. The key Bobby Hull card additionally has paper loss on the front, in the left border. The Ratelle and Gilbert rookie cards are otherwise G, similar to the Mikita with rounded corners. A few bright spots include a couple of NM commons and a crease-free Black Hawks team card, the latter with however light stains in the upper right corner region. We're not all that fond of an often-used current-day expression, but we'll use it here; "it is what it is."
