Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018

Affiliates of the Toronto Maple Leafs, the St Catharines Saints enjoyed a brief time in the AHL under that moniker, icing a club in St Catharines from just 1982 to 1986, before the relocation to Newmarket for the 1986-87 season. We have a Saints jersey originating from circa-1983. A small remnant of a Maska label is attached to the collar along with a size 52 laundry tag, with an embroidered Maska crest over the reverse bottom hem. Styled with an attractive team crest with embroidered detailing, “5” appears over the sleeves and verso in single twill, with matching leaf alternate crests over each shoulder. Research shows Saints players wearing this style of jersey, with large Maska crest on hem and similar Maska tagging in both 1982-83 and 1983-84, with the possibility of the jersey being recycled afterwards for a later season.
We should also note that Craig Muni and Lee Norwood wore #5 in 1983-84, with Muni wearing #3 in 1983-84, taking over the #5 in the following 1984-85 and 1985-86 seasons. It is unknown who would have worn the #5 in the inaugural 1982-83 season. Marks and stains are visible over the lower front and sleeves along with numerous team repairs both large and small, with light pilling over the collar. The back seam beneath the reverse collar is also torn but intact.
