Historical Hockey Memorabilia Auction Fall 2018
This lot is closed for bidding. Bidding ended on 11/6/2018
Here’s a rare opportunity to score the “Holy Grail” of the hockey puck hobby! Spalding pucks like this were adopted by the NHL as the league’s official puck and used in games for most of the 1930s and into the ‘40s. This earlier, less common and thus more desirable of two versions has the Spalding logo molded into the edge of the puck, where “OFFICIAL” in block letters also appears. The two Spalding rubber logos are nicely preserved on each side, both of which exhibit light crazing. It’s amazing to consider the likes of Morenz, Shore, the Cook brothers, the Kid Line and other pre-war legends passing round and shooting pucks like this scarce beauty that remains in wonderful shape.
